Feels hot but not feverish?

A fever without a chill is a condition in which the body feels hot, similar to symptoms of a fever but without a chill. For those who have a device to measure body temperature, the measured temperature will not exceed 37 degrees Celsius. A fever without a chill may not indicate any problems if it only occurs temporarily. However, if the symptoms do not improve, it could be a sign of some diseases.

Sometimes, a fever without a chill can be caused by temporary conditions such as stress, anxiety, nervousness, hangovers, drinking lots of caffeinated  beverages, eating spicy foods, exercising, especially in hot environments, or eating or drinking very hot foods.

However, there are also times when a fever without a body temperature can be caused by certain diseases or conditions. Some possible examples include:

1. Hyperthyroidism

Hyperthyroidism is  a condition that occurs when the thyroid gland produces too much thyroid hormone, which causes abnormal symptoms in the body, including heat sensitivity, which can make the person feel hot but not have a fever.

Other symptoms that people with this condition may experience include unexplained weight loss,  rapid heartbeat, anxiety, frequent bowel movements, fatigue, insomnia, hand tremors, hair loss, hair breakage, and missed periods in women.

2. Hypothyroidism

Hypothyroidism  is a condition in which the thyroid gland produces an abnormally low amount of thyroid hormone, which can slow down the body’s metabolism .

Symptoms that patients with this condition often experience include chills,  fatigue, numbness or a pins and needles sensation in the hands, constipation  , unexplained weight gain, body aches, lethargy, dry skin, a deep voice, and abnormally heavy menstrual periods in women.

3. Hypoglycemia

Hypoglycemia  is a condition that occurs when blood sugar levels drop abnormally, affecting the body’s processes. This condition may be common in diabetic patients, as this group of patients must use insulin or  a hormone that controls blood sugar levels in the body. However, those who use it may experience low blood sugar if they do not use it properly.

In addition, sometimes this condition can be caused by other factors such as heavy alcohol consumption, weight loss surgery,  and adrenal insufficiency.

People with this condition often experience the following symptoms: dizziness, nausea, cold skin, fatigue, palpitations,  excessive sweating, chills, feverish-like symptoms, an unusually high appetite, and insomnia.

4. Menopause

Menopause  is a condition when women begin to enter menopause or  after the age of 51 years and above. However, this condition is not a physical disorder, but a normal condition that occurs as women age.

In terms of symptoms,  women who are entering menopause often experience the following symptoms: hot flashes, night sweats , vaginal dryness, frequent urination, insomnia, dry skin, dry mouth, mood swings, and breast pain.

5. Urinary tract infections

Urinary tract infection is  a condition that occurs when the urinary system, which consists of the urethra, kidneys, and bladder, becomes infected and inflamed. Sometimes, inflammation from this condition can cause the patient to have chills, chills, and a feverish feeling, but without a fever.

Other symptoms that may occur include pain during urination  , blood in the urine, frequent urination, inability to hold urine, unusually foul-smelling urine, and pain in the pelvic area.

6. Diabetes

Diabetes  is a condition that occurs when blood sugar levels rise abnormally because the pancreas does not produce enough insulin, stops producing it, or produces it but the body does not respond as it should.

Some patients with this condition may notice a fever but no body temperature because diabetes causes the sweat glands that produce sweat to control body temperature to not function properly. Or some people may be at risk of low sugar, which is another cause of a fever but no body temperature, from using insulin incorrectly.

Other symptoms that may occur from diabetes include frequent thirst, blurred vision, numbness or a sensation like needles or pins and needles in the hands and feet, and slow healing of wounds.

7. Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis  is a disease caused by the body’s immune system malfunctioning by destroying the nerve sheaths that cover the nerves in the brain and spinal cord, causing the patient to experience abnormal symptoms.

In addition to the symptoms of fever without a fever, patients with this disease may also experience the following symptoms: blurred vision, muscle tension, fatigue, difficulty balancing, a feeling of numbness or pins and needles in the body, and difficulty controlling urination and defecation.
