Amorim has appoint as the new manager of the Red Devils, and will officially start his job on November 11th.

“Of course I’m sure it will be like that (Manchester United fans will watch the game). I will focus only on Sporting. Whether we succeed or fail, it’s Sporting as a coach, but I know they will pay attention to every detail of the game, especially the result,” Amorim said.

“I’m stressed about the game. We have a plan. After watching Man City play in the game against Bournemouth, everything changed. I have a conscience. It’s not like I’m thinking about leaving the team now. The real farewell will be in Braga, which will be a special moment.”

The 39-year-old immediately replied with a joke that if he led Sporting to victory. He would seen as the “new Fergie”.

“Focus on winning with Sporting, then it doesn’t matter to me what anyone else interprets, because it can be misunderstood,” Amorim added.

“If the result is negative, expectations will be lower. But if we win, they might think the new Sir Alex Ferguson is born!”

Amorim has been appointed as the new manager of the Red Devils, signing a two-and-a-half-year contract with the option to extend for a further year. He will officially start work on November 11.
